QWO® CELLULITE TREATMENT

The first FDA-approved injectable to treat cellulite in the buttocks of women, Qwo® brings a non-invasive option never before available. Since most women experience some cellulite development, doctors and patients alike welcome this new choice in cellulite treatment.

WHAT IS QWO® CELLULITE TREATMENT?

The active ingredients in Qwo® work by freeing areas of tethered connective tissue under the skin. This results in smoother skin and reduction in dimpling. Qwo® does not provide an instant fix, but will take several weeks to see full results.

HOW DOES QWO® WORK?

Bands of connective tissue under the skin, called septae, cause the appearance of cellulite. By tethering the skin in spots, they cause dimples and also cause fat to bulge between them, resulting in an uneven texture.

Qwo® contains enzymes that target two forms of collagen that form septae. They break down these septae, freeing the tethered skin and allowing the area to become smoother and more even. Because these enzymes target this type of connective tissue and not skin or fat, Qwo® cellulite treatment has proven very safe to use.

By releasing these bands, Qwo® assists with redistributing fat, which no longer has to bulge between septae, leading to a smoother appearance. It can also trigger the production of normal, healthy collagen that helps to tighten and tone the skin.

WHAT IS A QWO® TREATMENT LIKE?

Qwo® is injected into the skin in the areas of cellulite. Treatment may be completed in as little as ten minutes. You will be able to leave the office immediately after treatment. Most people receive 12 injections into each buttock for a total of 24 injections per session.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME WITH QWO®?

You may experience some bruising in the injection area, along with some redness and swelling. Bruising may take a week or more to resolve completely. You can go about all your normal activities after treatment.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR QWO®?

The ideal candidate for this cellulite treatment is a woman in overall good health with moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks. Most people are good candidates for this procedure. If you are pregnant or nursing, or if you have a bleeding disorder, you may not be a good candidate and should discuss this with your provider.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?

You will not see the results of your cellulite treatment right away. Enzymes take time to break up the septae and release the skin from its tethering. Once this occurs, the smoothing and tightening of the skin from new collagen also takes a few weeks.

Most people require three treatments, each spaced three weeks apart, to see the best results. Your visible changes will start to appear within a few weeks, with significant improvement after ten weeks.

You can expect to see smoother skin on your buttocks. As the enzymes remove the septae, bulging and dimpling disappear, resulting in more even distribution of fat. In addition, new collagen development will improve the skin’s texture and firmness. Long-term results may last several years.
